Nine Mile Metals (CSE:NINE) CEO Patrick Cruickshank says the Wedge Project in Canada is “definitely a special copper rich deposit”, after receiving certified sample assay results collected from a pre-drill area.
The latest assays returned up to 15% copper, 1.76% lead, 2.17% zinc, 0.71 grams per tonne gold, 48.10g/t silver, and 16.64% copper-equivalent.
As previously reported, two samples – collected from a small area immediately west of the footings from an old hoist and remains of a shaft – exhibit massive high-grade copper sulphide mineralisation.
Cruickshank notes that Wedge continues to demonstrate the “high-grade quality” of the sampling of the deposit.
“Our current drill program was designed with this quality of mineralisation below and I believe our first announced drillholes clearly demonstrates this success,” he says.
Vice President of Exploration Gary Lohman adds that the mineralisation is massive in character, fine grained, with basic iron and copper sulphides, mineralogy as seen in recent drilling.
“Visible covellite was locally present, adding a high grade component to the system,” Lohman says.
“Again, these values explain what we are seeing in our drill core from our first three holes. (WD-25-01 & WD-25-02 & WD-25-02B). We are extremely encouraged and look forward to the WD-25-01 certified drill core assay results.”
Ahead of Christmas, Nine Mile conducted a systematic drilling program to help identify the size and scale of the mineralised body at Wedge.
The third drillhole – WD-25-02B – was collared 60m northwest of the first drillhole and drilled an azimuth of 325 degrees and a dip of -50 degrees to a final depth of 122m. The company says this further increases the mineralised footprint of the target to the west.
Nine Mile notes that hole uncovered massive copper bearing sulphides found associated with the contact breccia at 56.4m with mineralisation continuing to 122m.
The Wedge Project, covering 35.83km2, is located in New Brunswick, Canada. The project was historically mined and produced 1.503 million tonnes @ 2.88% copper, 0.65% lead, 1.81% zinc, 20.6 grams per tonne silver.
