Nine Mile Metals (CSE:NINE) is in progress drilling the second hole at the Wedge Project via the western extension drilling program, following the completion of the first hole.
The first hole intersected 22.4m of massive copper-bearing sulphides, as well as a second sulphide zone in another target which is being geologically logged, measured, photographed and cut for sampling.
Vice President of Exploration Gary Lohman says the mineralisation was intersected where projected and throughout its width, it is massive and looks nondescript.
“However, upon close examination, chalcopyrite is seen as very fine disseaminations within a matrix of pyrite,” Lohman says.
“With the success of the first hole, the technical team, with the assistance of Apex Geoscience, decided to turn the drill west to intersect the volcanic massive sulphide (VMS) zones along strike and extend the mineralised footprint west.”
At the beginning of this month, Nine Mile mobilised a skid mounted drill rig for a seven-hole drilling program. The program is focusing on the new western extension of the deposit and will be testing the model at depth.
Nine Mile seeks to obtain the depth of mineralisation of the higher grade copper lens, as well as prove a larger western footprint, adding new tonnage to the deposit model.
Once completed, the company will add the new drill data to its 3D live modelling, including geological, geophysical, and drillhole cross-section results.

Over the past month, copper’s price is 25.65% higher than a year ago, according to Trading Economics. At the time of writing, copper futures sat at US$5.10 per tonne.
Global copper demand is forecast to grow at an average rate of 2.6% per year from 28 million tonnes in 2025 to 29 million tonnes in 2027, according to the Department of Industry Science and Resources’ (DISR) September Quarterly 2025.
DISR reports that global mine production reached 11.2 million tonnes in H1 2025, which shows a 1.4% growth compared to H1 2024.
