Nexus Minerals (ASX:NXM) has confirmed the Clement prospect gold system remains open at depth after drill hole extensions returned ‘high-grade’ results at its Wallbrook Gold Project in Western Australia.
The company reports depth extensions to two previously reported holes returned further ‘high-grade’ gold mineralisation below their original planned depths.
Hole NMWBRC26-830 delivered 4m @ 6.36 grams per tonne gold (Au) within 13m @ 2.62g/t Au from 204m, while NMWBRC26-827 returned 5m @ 2.06g/t Au and 1m @ 2.02g/t Au within 18m @ 1.12g/t Au from 204m.
Nexus has now received assay results for all 33 reverse circulation (RC) drill holes covering 6,121m at the Clement prospect, completing the third tranche of results from its 22,000m mineral resource estimate (MRE) definition program.
Additional highlights from the final 23 drill holes include 4m @ 2.74g/t Au within 11m @ 1.12g/t Au from 86m, and 8m @ 1.93g/t Au from 111m, including 3m @ 3.51g/t Au within 12m @ 1.38g/t Au from 109m.
Hole NMWBRC26-865 confirmed stacked lode geometry with multiple mineralised intervals, including 4m @ 2.14g/t Au and 3m @ 1.84g/t Au within 23m @ 1.11g/t Au from 206m.
The latest assays build on previously reported drilling results from the Clement prospect.
Managing Director Andy Tudor says the depth extensions confirm the Clement system continues at strong grades and widths at depth, while stacked mineralised lodes remain open for lateral repetitions and extensions to the north.
“Encouragingly, drilling has continued to define mineralisation within close proximity to the Crusader-Templar deposit, with the prospects now coalescing in the south. This presents further exciting targeting opportunities and has potential to deliver synergies in future pit optimisations,” Tudor says.
Clement sits immediately adjacent to the Crusader-Templar deposit within the same regional structural corridor. Both prospects occur within an intermediate andesitic volcanic to volcaniclastic sequence intruded by high-level porphyry dykes, sharing common host architecture and mineralising signatures.
Gold mineralisation at Clement is associated with quartz-pyrite-hematite veining in fresh rock, with grades correlating positively with pyrite content. The prospect displays stacked sub-vertical north- to northwest-trending lodes associated with hematite-altered porphyry dykes.
RC drilling at the Payns, Clement, and Branches prospects is now complete, with the rig having progressed to Crusader-Templar extension targets. Approximately 18,000m of the planned 22,000m program has been completed.
The company has engaged independent consulting geologist Jeremy Clark from Lily Valley International to deliver an updated multi-prospect Wallbrook MRE, targeted for completion by the end of the September quarter. The Clement prospect is well positioned to support a maiden MRE that will contribute to the updated Wallbrook MRE.
Nexus currently holds a combined MRE of 5.7Mt @ 1.7g/t Au for 304,000 ounces at the Crusader-Templar deposit. The Wallbrook Gold Project comprises a 192km² land package within a major regional structural corridor immediately north of Northern Star Resources’ (ASX:NST) Carosue Dam mining operations.
