New Age Exploration (ASX:NAE) has restarted reverse circulation drilling at the Wagyu Gold Project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia following the Christmas and New Year break.
To date, New Age has completed 24 holes over 2,388m of the greater 4,000m program before pausing operation on 22 December 2025.
The company has submitted assay samples from drilling prior to the break, which are expected to be received from January through to March 2026.
Drilling is designed to expand the continuity of shallow gold enrichment zones which are interpreted to be analogous to Hemi style mineralisation.
New Age says drilling so far has intersected lithologies, alteration, and sulphide assemblages consistent with a campaign conducted in March 2025.
Executive Director Joshua Wellisch says restarting drilling is an important step for the Wagyu Project as the company moves into the next phase of drilling.
“The continuity of alteration and intrusive geology intersected to date supports our exploration model, and we look forward to completing the program and reporting assay results as they come to hand,” Wellisch says.
Located in the mineralised corridor of Mallina Basin in Pilbara, the Wagyu Project is proximal to Northern Star Resources’ (ASX;NST) Hemi gold deposit, which hosts around 11.2 million ounces of gold.
Historical drilling at Wagyu returned 8m @ 5 grams per tonne gold from 44m; 4m @ 2.5g/t gold from 76m; 12m @ 1g/t gold from 12m; and 3m @ 2.8g/t gold from 41m.
New Age Exploration is a diversified minerals and metals explorer focused on developing gold and lithium assets in Australia.
