Nevada Organic expands potential phosphate resource in US

Nevada Organic Phosphate (CSE:NOP) has been granted three new applications for phosphate prospecting, adding a further 6,011 acres of potential phosphate resource to its existing Nevagro Permit covering 1,813 acres in Nevada, US. 

CEO Robin Dow says the expansion of the company’s application footprint is the result of careful geological work and steady progress through the regulatory framework. 

“We will continue to move forward responsibly, ensuring that each stage of exploration is supported by sound data and full compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act and the Bureau of Land Management processes,” Dow says. 

The company is currently working with its environmental consultants to finalise the National Environmental Policy Act requirements for environmental assessments. This is considered necessary to fulfill the Bureau of Land Management’s requirements for granting exploration permits. 

Murdock Mountain’s exploration

To date, six holes have been drilled, returning an average grade of 10.95% phosphorous pentoxide over a true thickness of 4.20m, consistent with the geological model for the Upper Phosphatic Zone. 

As previously reported, the company is aiming to strengthen its understanding of the flat-lying horizon’s grade continuity at the Murdock Mountain Project in the US. 

Drilling aims to further evaluate the strike, thickness, lateral continuity, and grade characteristics of the Meade Peak Upper Phosphate Zone, which outcrops across the project. 

Director Garry Smith notes the current phase of work is building the technical confidence needed to support future decisions. 

“Our team will continue collecting the geological, structural and analytical data required to determine whether a mineral resource estimate can be prepared in accordance with NI 43-101,” Smith says. 

“We are advancing each step carefully and in full alignment with regulatory and scientific standards.”

The Murdock Mountain Project hosts a nearly flat-lying sedimentary phosphate horizon within the Meade Peak Formation. The initial 1,813-acre Nevagro Exploration Permit area is interpreted to contain an exploration target mineral inventory of 10 to 46 million tonnes, grading between 3-15% phosphorous pentoxide, based on an average thickness of 3.5m and a specific gravity of 2.6m. 

Nevada Organic Phosphate is a junior explorer focused on an organic sedimentary raw rock phosphate bed, 6.6km-long, in northeast Nevada.
