Nano One Materials (TSX:NANO) has produced lithium iron phosphate cathode active material using battery-grade lithium carbonate supplied by Standard Lithium (NYSE:SLI) from its South West Arkansas pilot plant in Arkansas, US.
The company processed the lithium carbonate through its One‑Pot process to produce LFP cathode material and assembled battery coin cells at its Burnaby innovation centre.
Test results showed the material achieved target standards, delivering approximately 155 milliampere‑hour per gram on first discharge.
Nano One qualifies raw materials through a staged testing protocol from A‑sample to C‑sample, prior to D‑samples in a commercial setting.
The work extends a relationship that began in July 2025, when Nano One joined the Arkansas lithium technology accelerator supported by Standard Lithium and other partners.
CEO Alex Holmes says the company continues qualification work with raw material producers across multiple jurisdictions.
“We are now pleased to have successfully tested lithium feedstock from Standard Lithium. As our feedstock supply base continues to grow, we believe this provides our prospective licensees and customers with greater sourcing optionality,” Holmes says.
Nano One will expand capacity at its Candiac facility to approximately 800 tonnes per year, with detailed engineering 85% complete. The company is targeting commissioning for H1 2027.
The company’s platform uses patented processes and modular designs to enable scalable cathode production while eliminating wastewater and byproducts.
