Mt Monger Resources embarks on maiden drill program at Pomme Project, Quebec

Mt Monger Resources (ASX:MTM) reports its maiden diamond drilling program will start in May 2023 at the company’s Pomme Rare Earth Elements-Niobium Project in Quebec, Canada.

The program will provide a first-pass evaluation of the carbonatite complex, define the overall geology of the carbonatite intrusion, as well as assess the grad and continuity of the REE-Nb mineralisation that it contains.

Speaking to Mining.com.au, Mt Monger Resources Managing Director, Lachlan Reynolds says: “We are in the final stages of engaging a drilling contractor to undertake the work and preparations for a field camp to support the program are also well underway.

The mobilisation of a drill rig will be in about a month and we are liaising with the local Cree First Nation of Waswanipi regarding the exact timing.

We are very keen to see the rig start turning and start to reveal the geology of this exciting prospect area.”

Mt Monger states this announcement was issued after the Quebec Ministry of Natural Resources and Forests (MRNF) granted approval for its initial drilling program at the project.

The Pomme REE-Nb Project is a known carbonatite intrusion with ‘exceptional’ results from limited historical drilling, which demonstrates enrichment in REE and Nb.

Mt Monger has entered into a binding option agreement with Geomega Resources (TSXV:GMA) to acquire 100% interest in the Pomme claims and is now enduring exploration to uncover REE-Nb resources.

In addition, the company states the Pomme Project is considered to be an ‘extremely’ prospective exploration target, as it is located adjacent to Geomega’s Montviel REE-Nb deposit.

The Montviel REE-Nd deposit has a defined total indicated and inferred resource of 266 million tonnes (Mt) @ 1.45% total rare earth oxide (TREO) and 0.14% niobium oxide (Nb2O5).

Mt Monger Resources is an exploration company focused on uncovering REE, gold, lithium, nickel, and base metals in the Goldfields and Ravensthorpe districts of Western Australia and in the Abitibi region of the Province of Quebec, Canada.

The company holds over 4,500km-square of tenements in 3 prolific and prospective mineral regions in Western Australia, as well as a 100% interest in 2,400 hectares of exploration rights in Quebec, Canada.
