Mt Malcolm Mines (ASX:M2M) is preparing to commence a 2,000–2,500m reverse circulation drilling program at the Golden Crown prospect in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia.
The campaign covers approximately 25 drill holes across two components at the prospect, which forms part of the company’s larger Malcolm Project.
M2M says drilling aims to test extensions of the mineralisation beyond the current resource envelope, both along strike and at depth.
Golden Crown hosts a JORC 2012 mineral resource of 95,700 tonnes @ 1.50 grams per tonne gold (Au) for 4,600 ounces, comprising 80,800 tonnes @ 1.47g/t Au indicated and 14,900 tonnes @ 1.68g/t Au inferred.
Managing Director Trevor Dixon says Golden Crown is entering an important next phase.
“The company now has a maiden mineral resource, a stronger geological understanding of the mineralisation, and a clearly defined upcoming drill program focused on areas where we believe the greatest near-term upside exists,” Dixon notes.
“The shallow infill component is designed to improve confidence in the existing resource, while the extensional component is aimed at testing targets along strike and at depth.
“Success from this program has the potential to strengthen the quality of the resource base and demonstrate additional scale at Golden Crown.”
The extensional component represents the primary resource growth driver, targeting a high-priority 300m corridor southwest of the main mineralisation.
According to M2M, this previously untested zone may host additional mineralisation on the interpreted structural trend.
Previous drilling campaigns yielded multiple shallow intercepts, including 3m @ 11g/t Au from 22m, including 1m @ 30.77g/t Au.
Other significant results include 4m @ 5.23g/t Au from 22m and 6m @ 36.75g/t Au from 12m within a broader 14m zone at 16.78g/t Au.
M2M says the upcoming drilling program builds on technical work completed in 2025 and 2026.
A bulk sampling program in Golden Crown in 2025 produced 345 ounces of gold doré from 979 wet tonnes, demonstrating coarse, free-milling gold within the quartz vein system.
Meanwhile, metallurgical testwork supported a gold recovery of approximately 94.3%.
The company confirms all environmental permitting is up to date, with drill pad clearing underway.
Mt Malcolm Mines is a gold-focused explorer, with its flagship Malcolm Project located in Western Australia’s central Eastern Goldfields.
