Military Metals to launch Tiennesgrund fieldwork

Military Metals (CSE:MILI) intends to begin a fieldwork program next month at the Tiennesgrund Antimony-Gold Project in eastern Slovakia. 

The company says the key to determine the potential of the district-scale mineralised system is structure. 

Exploration efforts will focus on locations across the project where structural measurements can be taken from accessible underground workings or surface exposures. 

Based on the results obtained, areas will be selected for soil geochemical surveys. The locations where antimony and gold anomalies are delineated will be trenched, sampled and mapped, while locations where the combination of these efforts yield positive results will be tested for drilling. 

The entire exploration program, with the exception of drilling, is estimated to take three to four weeks. A timeframe for a separate drilling program is yet to be determined. 

CEO Scott Eldridge says the company looks forward to unlocking the value of its second Slovakian project. 

“Antimony prices continue to rise and remain at all-time highs,” Eldridge says. 

“There is a global antimony supply shortage at a time where re-armament and renewable energy is advancing globally, two key demand pillars.”

Antimony is a silvery metalloid isolated and processed from the mineral stibnite for commercial use in a variety of downstream products and industries. Its key properties are the ability to harden and strengthen certain metals. 

As Mining.com.au previously reported, Military Metals Australia-based Director Mark Saxon says today antimony is a critical component across military, manufacturing, and renewable energy applications, particularly solar photovoltaic glass to improve the performance of solar cells. 

Antimony is used in the electronics industry to make semiconductor devices, such as infrared detectors and diodes. The metal is used in a variety of military applications, including night vision googles, explosive formulations, flares, and nuclear weapons production. 

The Tiennesgrund Project area has been the recipient of prospecting and small-scale mining for several centuries for gold and antimony. Over two dozen adits at various locations across the project, indicating the presence of a structural zone running the entire length of the project and beyond. 

Military Metals is a British Columbia-based mineral explorer focused primarily on acquiring, discovering and developing antimony-focused assets.
