Australian company Nautitech Mining Systems has been expanding its operations into India by introducing its Methane Master system technology.
This is part of a move towards addressing growing demand for advanced mining safety solutions in India, particularly as regulatory changes increase the recognition of international safety certifications.
Methane Master is widely used in Australian mines for methane monitoring and shutdown.
By entering the Indian market earlier this year, Nautitech aims to support safer underground mining operations and enhance its presence in this rapidly developing sector.
The move is part of the company’s global growth ambitions. In 2024 CEO Mac Powolny travelled to the US, Canada, Vietnam, and South Africa to exchange ideas with mining industry colleagues from many other countries.
In India, Nautitech has been participating in mining expos, such as IMME, to showcase its technologies, such as the Spitfire BPLM.
The Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) has been providing the company with market insights and briefings and facilitated key engagements and connections with partners.
Austrade’s business development managers have been integral in fostering a productive working relationship with current local partners and distributors in India.
Austrade says these efforts are aimed at promoting the company’s advanced safety equipment and establishing a strong foothold in the Indian mining industry.
Nautitech last year also launched the PS12 Universal Power Supply, upgraded the Methane Master with a Hybrid Snout, and helped its clients capture and visualise data with the DataMaster.
The company partnered with Digital Terrain to introduce the Spitfire BPLM (Broadband Powerline Modem) to hard rock and showcased its products around the world.
Nautitech continuously invests a portion of its annual revenue to gain new industry insights and work closely with mining partners to develop effective solutions that are maximising operational capability and improving worker safety.
In October 2024, some 67 delegates from 46 Australian companies attended India’s leading mining event in Kolkata, the International Mining & Machinery Exhibition (IMME) 2024. On the ground, the focus was on sustainable, environmentally responsible practices.
Australia’s expertise in green mining – covering areas like mine optimisation, renewable energy integration, waste reduction, and safety innovation – was highly coveted, Austrade says.
Working in collaboration with representatives from five Australian states, Australian METS companies were showcased, highlighting Australia’s commitment to helping India build a greener mining future.
