Metallis Resources (TSX-V:MTS) has commenced its 2026 field season at the Greyhound Project in Central Idaho, US.
Exploration crews have arrived at the 673-hectare property to begin road and access maintenance, camp establishment, and target validation ahead of drilling. The 2026 program includes diamond drilling, geological mapping, trenching, and geochemical sampling aimed at improving understanding of the Greyhound Shear Zone.
Initial drilling will focus on the Rufus Zone, where the company’s inaugural 2025 drill program confirmed a broad mineralised shear zone hosting multiple quartz veins associated with gold, silver, lead, zinc, and antimony mineralisation. This season’s program will evaluate the geometry, continuity, and structural controls of interpreted ‘higher-grade’ mineralised shoots within the broader system.
VP of Exploration Dave Nuttall says mobilisation will allow the team to confirm geological interpretations and refine drill targeting before the rig arrives on site.
“We are particularly excited to return to the Rufus Zone, where last year’s drilling significantly improved our understanding of the scale and mineralized potential of the system. Our objective this season is to better define the structural controls on mineralisation and further evaluate the continuity of higher-grade shoots within the broader shear zone,” Nuttall says.
Beyond the Rufus Zone, field crews plan to advance several emerging target areas across the property, including Republican, Bulldog, Akita, Idaho, Ridge Cut, and Birdie through ongoing mapping, trenching, and sampling.
Metallis optioned the Greyhound Property in February 2024 and subsequently staked additional land to expand the project area. The project is located in Custer County, approximately 42km northwest of the town of Stanley and 35km south of Perpetua Resources’ (NASDAQ:PPTA) Stibnite Mine. The area was the centre of an active silver mining camp in the early 1900s, which historically contained a smelter and two active mines along the 3.5km Greyhound shear.
CEO Fiore Aliperti says the work completed during last year’s inaugural drill program provided a stronger understanding of the project and increased confidence in several priority targets.
“With drilling, geophysics, geological mapping, and surface exploration planned across the property, we expect to generate a steady flow of meaningful news as the season progresses while continuing to unlock the broader potential of the Greyhound Property,” Aliperti says.
Metallis expects drilling to commence following completion of mobilisation activities and final target verification.
