Lodestar to probe new copper targets at Earaheedy

Lodestar Minerals (ASX:LSR) plans to further investigate three new copper targets identified in soil sampling at the Anticline Prospect, part of the Earaheedy Project in Western Australia.

The targets were uncovered following the compilation of 637 samples taken from two prospects within the newly granted E69/3532 tenement.

Managing Director Ed Turner says E69/3532 is one of Lodestar’s most prospective tenements within the project, and this is the first work the explorer could complete since the grant of the tenement in October 2024.

“After more than 9,620 soil samples completed by Lodestar since 2022, we are pleased to announce newly defined targets at our Earaheedy Project in Western Australia,” he says.

“Following the identification of these new anomalies detailed geological mapping will be required to evaluate each target and their potential.

“This work will commence in March 2025.”

Sampling at the Anticline Prospect covers an area of almost 20km long by 8km wide.

The area showed two gravity highs associated with a complex magnetic response.

Lodestar notes that volcanic rocks have been identified on the ground, although most of the area is undercover making geological mapping difficult.

Each sample was assayed for a multi-element suite of 49 elements, including gold and potential “pathfinder” elements.

Target one is located in the main axial plane of the structurally defined anticline and at the fold closure, which is a recognised trap for potential mineralisation.

It is also linked to a gravity high, and a magnetic complex area.

Target two is also on the axial plane of the fold.

Target three, meanwhile, is located out of the main axial plane but is also associated with the gravity high, returning a single point gold result of 43 parts per billion, which Lodestar says will need to be further investigated.

Lodestar’s next steps are to ground proof and geologically map the three targets to determine the likelihood of economic mineralisation and decide whether to move to infill sampling over the targets.

More detailed geophysical surveys will also be considered to better define structural targets.

Lodestar is a base metals and gold explorer with a portfolio of projects comprising the Earaheedy, Ned’s Creek and Coolgardie West projects in Western Australia and the Darwin Project in Chile.

The company also has exposure to lithium via its 27.5 million performance rights in Future Battery Minerals (ASX:FBM), which owns the Kangaroo Hills and Miriam lithium Projects in Western Australia.
