Lincoln to begin targeted geochronology program

Lincoln Minerals (ASX:LML) is working with South Australia’s Department for Energy and Mining to begin a targeted geochronology program on samples from the Minbrie Copper and Base Metals Project in South Australia. 

CEO Jonathon Trewartha says this study will help the company better understand Minbrie’s mineralisation and define the nest areas to target in a drilling program, which is expected to begin in H2 2025. 

The new analytical program aims to define the timing of mineralisation and metal sources, refining the geological model and informing high-impact drill targets. 

Lincoln, which has a market capitalisation of $10.51 million, says this program aims to determine Minbrie’s correlation with major regional events, including the 1.6 billion-year-old iron oxide copper gold (IOCG)-forming episodes at Olympic Dam and Carrapateena. 

For Lincoln, these insights will support its exploration strategy at Minbrie, as well as clarifying whether the base metal mineralisation aligns with known IOCG-forming events and guiding future drilling toward the highest priority structural and lithological targets. 

The company intends to continue its collaborative exploration approach in close partnership with the Geological Survey of South Australia. 

In March 2025, geologists from the Geological Survey of South Australia (GGSA) visited Lincoln Minerals’ operations at Cowell, as part of the Critical Minerals South Australia initiative. 

The visit formed part of the South Australian Government’s broader effort to advance the discovery and development of strategically important minerals across the Eyre Peninsula. 

An onsite review of the historical drill core was conducted at the Kookaburra Gully Graphite Project, as well as the Minbrie Project. The visit provides an opportunity for hands-on collaboration between Lincoln’s exploration team and GGSA’s geologists. 

Together, they reviewed critical features such as alteration patterns, structural orientations, and lithological markets, which are all considered “instrumental” in advancing Lincoln’s mineral system model and refining exploration targeting. 

Insights from this engagement helped shape the upcoming analytical program, ensuring alignment between Lincoln’s technical priorities and the state’s broader critical minerals agenda. 

The Minbrie Copper-Lead-Zinc Project is located on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula. Recent exploration has confirmed a mineralised system extending over a 7km strike length, with multiple sulphide-rich zones and strong potential for further discoveries. 

Lincoln Minerals is focused on advancing multi-commodity critical minerals projects in the Gawler Craton.
