Lincoln Minerals (ASX:LML) has signed a Native Title Mining Agreement to continue exploration at its Jungle Dam uranium prospect with the Gawler Ranges Aboriginal Corporation.
Following registration approval from the Department of Energy and Mining, the company will receive access to Exploration Licence 5942 in South Australia, which hosts Jungle Dam.
An upcoming drilling program at the prospect was supported by historical gravity data, along with open-source geological information and datasets released by the government last year, which aims to confirm previous intersections of up to 570 parts per million uranium from drillhole WCRC008.
Following this information, Lincoln will expedite drilling at Jungle Dam, now scheduled to begin in September this year, as reported by Mining.com.au.
CEO Jonathon Trewartha says this agreement marks a milestone for the company’s exploration efforts at Jungle Dam.
“We are pleased to be working in respectful partnership with the Gawler Ranges Aboriginal Corporation as we advance exploration in this highly prospective area,” Trewartha says.
“While our work at Jungle Dam is in its early stages, we are committed to building a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship with the Traditional Owners.”
Jungle Dam is located about 45km northeast of Kimba in South Australia, hosting greenfields uranium mineralisation, which was first discovered by Lincoln in 2007.
Lincoln Minerals is an Australian exploration and development company focused on advancing its critical minerals projects in the Gawler Craton region of South Australia.
The Gawler Ranges Aboriginal Corporation acts as land administrators on behalf of the Gawler Ranges in South Australia, which consists of the Barngarla, Kokatha, and Wirangu people.
A native title claim was first lodged in 1997 to administer 34km2 of the area, as well as Lake Gardiner National Park. The program now manages land activities across 758,900 hectares within the native title area.
