Lincoln Minerals’ (ASX:LML) first phase of a 6,000m aircore (AC) drilling program has been completed at its Kookaburra Gully Graphite Project on the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia.
The company reports phase one of drilling comprised 31 new holes totalling 2,693m over the Koppio Graphite deposit. The area includes an inferred graphite resource of 1.85Mt @ 9.8%.
Lincoln Minerals notes drilling locations were sited on an associated ground electromagnetic (EM) anomaly, and additional ground EM lines were completed prior to the start of drilling.
The company also notes drilling was completed on infill lines to create an overall line spacing of 40m, which the company hopes will further define the extent and quality of the graphite mineralisation and add to its total discovered graphite resource.
In addition, the current drill program has also been designed to target several ‘strongly’ conductive, previously undrilled EM anomalies.
The drill rig has now moved to the Kookaburra Gully Extended (KGE) prospect located along strike to the south of the company’s flagship Kookaburra Gully Graphite Project.
Once drilling is completed at KGE, the rig will move to the Kookaburra Gully deposit to infill and extend drilling before demobilising.
Lincoln Minerals is an Australian graphite exploration company with a large graphite resource on the ‘highly’ prospective Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. The company’s flagship Kookaburra project is situated about 35km north of southern Eyre Peninsula’s main hub at Port Lincoln.
Lincoln has identified potential for other mineral accumulations in addition to its graphite resource including magnetite, hematite, copper, and gold in this region, which has a long history of graphite, iron, ore, copper, and gold mining.
