Lincoln Minerals (ASX:LML) has begun an aircore (AC) drilling campaign at its Koppio Graphite Mine within the greater Kookaburra Gully Graphite Project in South Australia.
The company says drilling comprises about 100 AC holes for 6,000m of drilling across over ‘highly prospective’ graphite mineralised areas. It will be conducted by Bullion Drilling and is set to begin at the Koppio mine before moving on to the Kookaburra Gully Extended exploration targets, and finally the Kookaburra Gully deposit.
Drilling will seek to test the continuity and extent of the ‘high-grade’ graphite mineralisation identified in previous drilling at Koppio and Kookaburra Gully, as well as drill the ‘strong’ conductive anomalies at the Kookaburra Gully Extended area which are interpreted to be associated with graphite mineralisation.
It is also planned to provide additional information for the company’s resource estimation studies and add valuable data toward the review of its mining feasibility study at the Kookaburra Gully deposit.
Lincoln Minerals notes the starting of this drilling program comes following the completion of a ground electromagnetic (EM) survey over key graphite prospects as announced by the company earlier this month.
The company’s exploration team is currently processing and interpreting the EM data in order to assist in target definition.
Drilling is expected to take about 3-4 weeks to complete, subject to on ground conditions and other factors. Regular updates on the progress of the drilling program, as well as any ‘significant’ results, are expected to be announced by the company as they become available.
Lincoln Minerals is an ASX-listed Australian graphite exploration company which is also focused on base metals and iron ore exploration and development of its ‘large’ graphite resource on the highly prospective Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. The company’s Kookaburra Gully project comprises the historic Koppio mine and the Kookaburra Gully Extended, Pernella, and Gum Flat prospects, each of which is considered highly prospective for graphite resources.
