Leviathan kicks off drilling at ‘remarkable’ Botswana target

Leviathan Metals (TSX-V:LVX) has begun a 10,000m diamond core drilling program at the Central Project on the Kalahari Copper Belt of Botswana.

The program is designed to target potential sediment-hosted copper mineralisation of the style and magnitude observed at MMG’s (HKG:1208) adjoining Khoemacau property.

Over 20km of the prospective contact has been interpreted at Central from recent airborne electromagnetic survey data, as well as from high-resolution ground magnetic surveys completed in 2023-24.

COO Jeremy Crozier says the budget for the program allows the company to perform work at a property scale, casting a net around the full extent of Central’s dome structure.

“We are very excited to have commenced drilling of this remarkable target — with the objective of demonstrating the potential of Central to host further Khoemacau-type mineralisation,” Crozier says.

Drilling works are being performed by Mitchell Drilling International, using a Sandvik DE710 diamond rig.

The Central Project displays similar geological characteristics to those observed at Khoemacau, which Leviathan says makes the property prospective for a tier one copper discovery.

Leviathan Metals is a Canada-based mineral explorer listed on the TSX-V and Germany.
