Legacy shoots for Mt Carrington with CSIRO agreement

Legacy Minerals (ASX:LGM) has entered into a research collaboration with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) to support project advancement for the Mt Carrington Project in New South Wales.

The agreement will include one of CSIRO’s Kick-Start vouchers to support work, including SEM-TIMA, LIBS, and structural logging.

The program provides an additional $50,000 in funding to support a larger, more robust technical study.

Works will be integrated with existing datasets to improve understanding of alteration and structural controls on mineralisation, while also advancing a mineralogical study to support project advancement.

The collaboration intends to support more efficient targeting, vectoring, and extensional drilling at the project.

CEO Christopher Byrne says the agreement is a “disciplined step” towards improving the company’s technical understanding of Mt Carrington’s system.

“Mt Carrington already hosts a substantial 115-million-ounce silver-equivalent mineral resource, and we see real value in applying advanced mineralogical and structural analysis to better understand how mineralisation is controlled across the broader system,” Byrne says.

“The collaboration is designed to give us a more detailed view of how alteration and structure interact across the key deposits and prospects within the Mt Carrington field, which we expect will improve targeting confidence and help refine extensional drilling priorities.

“Working with CSIRO gives Legacy access to advanced mineralogical techniques that are not typically available to junior explorers at this scale.

“By combining SEM-TIMA, LIBS, and structural logging with our existing geological and geochemical datasets, we believe the company can materially improve its interpretation of the Mt Carrington system in a way that supports efficient capital allocation and long-term shareholder value creation.”
