Larvotto Resources encounters ‘strong’ nickel anomaly at Eyre Project in WA

Larvotto Resources (ASX:LRV) has encountered a ‘strong’ nickel anomaly following a geochemical soil survey at the Dickie Dyke prospect, as part of its wholly owned Eyre Project in Western Australia.

The company says the ‘significant’ nickel anomaly was identified on the Jimberlana Dyke, a 2.5km wide mafic intrusive body that has been described by Australian diversified mining company Western Mining Corporation to be as analogous to the Great Dyke in Rhodesia.

Results returned from over 2km of strike within this area have delivered peak values of 1010 parts per million (ppm) nickel (Ni) and 2,550ppm chrome, and are reported to correspond well with an airborne magnetic high.

Samples collected during the geochemistry program were gathered from a depth of 15cm on north and south orientated lines about 240m apart before being compressed into pucks to be sent for analysis by SciAps pXRF.

Speaking on the discovery, Larvotto Resources Managing Director Ron Heeks says: “The excellent nickel and chrome geochemistry results from the Dickie Dyke prospect highlight the mineralisation potential of the Jimberlana Dyke. The anomaly warrants further follow up by geophysics and drilling.

Larvotto now has numerous drill ready targets at Eyre, the first 2 of which is being drilled this month at Merivale for lithium and Merivale South for rare earths.

Heritage Surveys for the separate Mt Norcott nickel and associated base metal anomaly has been completed and we look forward to commencing initial drill testing of that target shortly.”

The company also notes these results are up to 20 times higher than background samples for nickel and chrome, and that the aforementioned anomaly aligns well with the southern margin of the Jimberlana Dyke.

In addition, the noted chrome geochemical high corresponds well with the nickel high above and the southern margin of the Jimberlana Dyke where it is in contact with granite.

As of 11am AWST Larvotto Resources’ share price has increased by 11.428%.

Larvotto Resources is an ASX-listed company actively exploring its portfolio of assets across Queensland, Western Australia and New Zealand. The company’s Eyre project is located about 600km east of Perth near the township of Norseman in Western Australia’s Eastern Goldfields within an area that has been largely unexplored until recently due to the discovery of nickel, lithium and platinum grade elements in the region.

The project comprises a 692km-square tenement package with about 40km of exposure to the Jimberlana Dyke, a ‘large’ mafic intrusive body up to 2.5km in width that was explored from the 1960s until the late 1980s by Western Mining Corporation.

Other projects included in Larvotto’s arsenal include the Mt Isa Copper Project in Queensland, and the Ohakuri Gold Project in New Zealand.
