Larvotto Resources defines new drill targets at Ohakuri Gold Project, New Zealand

Australian exploration company Larvotto Resources (ASX:LRV) reports it has defined new drill targets following a combined electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) and induced polarisation (IP) geophysical survey at its Ohakuri Gold Project in New Zealand. 

These well-defined, resistivity drill targets are reported to correspond with all previous data and indicate that previous drilling was misaligned from the potential mineralising source rocks, which have generated the large amount of existing gold (Au) mineralisation at the project.  

It is also reported that the presence of these targets across a large area confirms the epithermal Au potential of the project and aid the company in its current goal of accurately defining the pathways that mineralised fluids used to move such a large amount of Au into the area.  

The survey was conducted over a 3-week period and commenced to infill and refine the broad scale geophysical survey work previously undertaken at Ohakuri.

The survey was also planned to deliver further detail at depth regarding the location of potential Ohakuri and Maleme gold (Au) feeder zones. 

Addressing the results, Larvotto Resources’ Managing Director, Ron Heeks says: “Previous drilling of the large, lower-grade gold mineralised zones and follow-up wide spaced ESCAN geophysics all highlighted the potential of Ohakuri to host ‘significant’ epithermal gold mineralisation. 

This survey successfully refined historical broad geophysical targets into robust targets for drilling. As soon as a diamond drill rig can be sourced, we will start drilling.

Nearly all the 10,000m of previous drilling failed to intersect the potential gold feeder zones that emanate from the deep source rocks below Ohakuri. We will target these missed feeder zones in the upcoming drilling.” 

Larvotto Resources also notes that the survey refined previous broad spaced geophysics into 2 concise zones that are considered ‘robust targets’ for future drilling. 

In addition, the recently completed survey program utilised close spaced survey points to provide a refined anomaly that can be more effectively targeted than the historical ESCAN survey, which indicated a potential Au mineralising source outside of the current drilling area.  

Larvotto Resources is an ASX-listed company focused on discovering multiple in-demand commodities including copper (Cu), Au, cobalt (Co), platinum-grade-element (PGE) and lithium (Li2O). The company’s Ohakuri project is located on New Zealand’s North Island and consists of a partially explored epithermal Au system hosted within predominantly rhyolitic volcanic terrain. 

With the combined survey at the project now complete, Larvotto Resources announces it has moved forward with planning to commence a diamond drilling (DD) campaign at the project.
