Lanthanein starts heritage surveys ahead of maiden drilling at Lyons REE Project

Lanthanein Resources (ASX: FNT) reports that it has commenced heritage surveys at its 100% owned Lyons Rare Earths Project in Western Australia.

The heritage surveys have commenced ahead of the projects maiden drill program which aims to target ‘high-grade’ rare earth mineralisation within outcropping ironstones and additional interpreted carbonatite intrusives.

Speaking on the heritage surveys, Lanthanein Technical Director, Brian Thomas, said: “The geological team are excited to be progressing towards the maiden drill program at the 100% owned Lyons rare earths project with the heritage avoidance surveys now underway.

We will get drilling started as soon as possible pending the final heritage surveys and completion of the siteworks, with drilling anticipated to start in early September.

It is also encouraging to see the success of Dreadnought Resources at their nearby Yin project, where they are drilling outcropping ironstones analogous to the Lanthanein’s Lyons Project and have discovered REE mineralisation that confirms genuine scale potential of rare earths in the ironstones.

“Remarkably, similar to the Lyons project, Yin has never been drilled before”

Remarkably, similar to the Lyons project, Yin has never been drilled before, highlighting the significant underexplored nature of Yin and Lanthanein’s Lyons and Edmund Projects.

We look forward to our upcoming drill program which is expected to take 4-6 weeks with regular updates throughout August to October 2022.”

The company also notes that upcoming maiden drilling program will target ‘high-priority’ targets from outcropping ironstones over more than 2.5km strike length located within the Gifford Creek Carbonatite Complex, which is host to Hastings Technology Metals (ASX: HAS) world-class Yangibana Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) of 27.4Mt @ 0.97% TREO with 0.33% Nd2O3+Pr6O11.

In addition, the company reports that it has also submitted an additional Program of Works (PoW) application to the Department of Mines Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) to allow for extensions to the initial drilling campaign and determine the resource potential, width, grade, and continuity at depth and along strike of the ironstone trends.

Further rock chip sampling is expected to commence in the future with plans to investigate additional targets that have not been followed up on. This includes for thorium and magnetic anomalies within the Lyons project and the ‘high-priority’ structural trend along the major Bald Hill lineament which transects the Edmund and Lyons Project areas.

The Lyons REE Project is located within the Gascoyne region of Western Australia with Lanthanein owning 100% of all associated tenements.

With the heritage surveys now underway, Lanthanein announces that it has secured a drill contractor for commencement of the maiden drilling program in early September.
