Labyrinth Resources (ASX:LRL) has begun exploration drilling to expand known ‘high-grade’ mineralisation at its Comet Vale Gold-Copper-Nickel project, located in Western Australia.
A drill rig has been mobilised to site and drilling began on 28 March, with an initial 20-hole, 1,500m program. The program is designed to test extensions to known mineralisation of the ‘high-grade’ Sovereign Trend.
The company reports this drilling is the first phase of a renewed focus on the ‘significant’ exploration potential across the Comet Vale tenement package.
Drilling is expected to take 10 days to complete and samples are expected to be submitted for assay at the completion of the program. These results are expected in the June quarter.

The Comet Vale Project has a ‘highly prospective’ geology as it is hosted by the Ora Banda domain, which hosts gold, nickel, and cobalt deposits with limited exploration outside of the known gold mines.
Additionally, the project covers over 5km of strike of the Walter Williams formation, which also runs through the tenement package which is a known host of nickel deposits to the north and south.
Labyrinth states the project area is adjacent to the Goldfields Highway, 100km north of Kalgoorlie with all services on site.
Labyrinth Resources is a West Australian gold mining and exploration company. The company’s portfolio consists of its flagship Labyrinth Gold and Denain Gold Projects in Canada, and the Comet Vale Project in Western Australia.
