Kobrea Exploration (CSE:KBX) has extended the El Perdido porphyry system within its Western Malargü Copper Projects in the Mendoza Province of Argentina, to host a square 2km footprint.
An airborne magnetometer survey conducted across April-May shows the system extending under cover to the east of a hydrothermal breccia unit, which is anticipated to mark the centre of the northeast system.
The hydrothermal breccia unit has been identified as 1,700m by 250m in size.
The company is collating results with an advanced spaceborne thermal emission and reflection radiometer (ASTER) study, which mapped phyllic and argillic alteration minerals extending beyond the east and southeast limits previously identified.
CEO James Hedalen says these results extend the footprint of the El Perdido porphyry system beyond what was recognised in historical mapping.
“Our interpretation is supported further by the recently completed ASTER study that shows hydrothermal alteration extending to the east and the southeast of the historically defined limits significantly increasing the size potential of this target that will be drill tested for the first time this upcoming exploration season,” Hedalen says.
The ASTER study was intended to evaluate alteration signatures, as well as comparing the prospect to nearby porphyry systems in May 2025.
Kobrea has the right to earn 100% interest in seven projects across the Mendoza Province in Argentina, totalling a landholding of 733km2.
