Kingwest Resources intersects ‘excellent high-grade’ gold at Selkirk deposit in WA

Kingwest Resources (KWR) reports ‘excellent high-grade’ gold intersections at the Selkirk deposit, part of the Menzies Gold Project in Western Australia.

Kingwest reports that it has intersected up to 24.62 grams per tonne (g/t) gold at Selkirk deposit, from 13 reverse circulation (RC) holes were drilled by BML Ventures, as part of an infill drilling program.

Results include 1m at 20.7g/t gold from 13m and 3m at 14.68g/t gold from 47m, the company reports.

Commenting on the results, Kingwest CEO Ed Turner said: “BML is making good progress as we move towards recommencing production at Selkirk and these drill results give us more confidence in the resource as well as underpinning support the proposed cut back of the pit.

“The recommencement of commercial mining at Menzies after more than 20 years since open cut mining finished is significant”

The recommencement of commercial mining at Menzies after more than 20 years since open cut mining finished is significant and we expect this to be the first of a number of mining operations at Menzies that should deliver attractive short and medium-term cash inflow to KWR.”

Kingwest reports that it will update the Selkirk Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) of 11,500oz at 2.15g/t gold and undertake an optimisation study.

The company will also complete metallurgical test work and drill additional infill holes once dewatering is completed.

Menzies is one of Western Australia’s major historic gold fields, located 130km north of the globally significant gold deposits of Kalgoorlie.

The Menzies Gold Project covers a contiguous land package over a strike length in excess of 15km. Within the project a series of structurally controlled ‘high-grade’ gold deposits have been historically mined and display extensive exploration potential for ‘high-grade’ extensions.

Modern exploration since closure over 20 years ago has been limited.

The Menzies Gold Project has recorded historical production of 643,200 oz @ 22.5g/t Au from underground (U/G) between 1895 and 1943 plus 145,000 oz @ 2.6g/t Au open cut between 1995 and 1999, for a total of 787,200oz @ 18.9g/t Au.

Menzies is only 130km north of Kalgoorlie on the Goldfields Highway, has power, and water and is within trucking distance of numerous Gold Processing Plants.
