Kali Metals (ASX:KM1) has received rock chip assays confirming lithium mineralisation at pegmatites within the Jingellic Project in New South Wales.
Assays — analysed by x-ray diffraction — have confirmed enriched lithium mineralisation ranging from 0.66% to 1.54% lithium oxide, and suggest the Giant pegmatite prospect is of the lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) type. This, Kali says, supports its exploration model for this style of deposit in the emerging Lachlan Fold Belt region.
Earlier this year, Kali undertook a 50km2 light detection and ranging survey completed over the Sweetwater Creek prospect, the results of which uncovered previously unknown pegmatite dykes.
The Sweetwater Creek area contains several historic tin mines that were discovered in the early 1990s.
Managing Director Graeme Sloan says the results highlight the potential for Jingellic to host lithium-bearing mineralisation.
“This is a great start for the company and only possible due to the diligence of our Lachlan Fold Belt geology team,” he says.
A soil geochemistry sampling program was also completed over Sweetwater Creek, with all sample assays now received from the laboratory.
Kali Metals was recently granted access to carry out low-impact exploration activities within the Mullengandra and Woomargama State Conservation Areas, which are prospective for LCT-bearing pegmatites and tin-tantalum mineralisation.
Access to these prospective areas allows Kali to plan and implement further soil geochemistry sampling programs, as part of its overall exploration strategy.
