Kalamazoo hits more ‘high-grade’ gold at Mt Olympus

Kalamazoo Resources (ASX:KZR) reports another ‘exceptional’ gold intersection at Mt Olympus ahead of a resource update for its wholly owned Ashburton Gold Project in Western Australia.

Hole KARC0206 returned 20m @ 19 grams per tonne gold (Au) from 2m, leading the latest assays from a 72-hole, 13,726m resource definition program completed in June. Results have now been received from 62 holes, with 10 still pending.

Other results include 69m @ 3g/t Au from 149m in KARC0207, including 26m @ 5.2g/t Au and 7m @ 10g/t Au.

Hole KARC0194 returned 43m @ 3.8g/t Au from surface, while KADD0021 intersected 30m @ 5.7g/t Au from 193m. Reported intervals are downhole lengths rather than true widths.

The results follow an earlier batch reported by Mining.com.au on 3 August, which included 36m @ 16g/t Au from 181m in KARCD0146, featuring 10m @ 49g/t Au.

Executive Director Dr Ben Ackerman says KARC0206 provides further insight into the deposit’s feeder structures.

“It demonstrates that the high-grade feeder structures are not confined to the lower siltstone unit but can extend upward into the upper stratigraphic units while maintaining exceptional grades,” Ackerman says.

Kalamazoo notes that the program reduced drill spacing to approximately 20m by 20m across key areas of the open-pit resource. The program aims to improve geological confidence and support conversion of inferred resources to the indicated category.

Drilling also encountered mineralisation outside the current resource model but within the conceptual Scoping Study pit shell.

CEO Andrew McDougall says the improved understanding of the structures could support resource growth and an expanded future mining inventory.

“These results will be incorporated into the updated mineral resource estimate [MRE] and ongoing Prefeasibility Study, where the improved understanding of the high-grade structures has the potential to support resource growth and an enhanced future mining inventory,” McDougall says.

Kalamazoo says it is targeting an updated Mt Olympus MRE in the December quarter of 2026, followed by the Ashburton Prefeasibility Study in the March quarter of 2027.

Further drilling is underway beneath Mt Olympus and at the Peake deposit to test extensions to known mineralisation.

Ashburton lies 35km southeast of Paraburdoo and hosts a mineral resource of 1.44 million ounces across four deposits. Historical operations produced 350,000 ounces between 1998 and 2004.

Kalamazoo Resources is a gold and base metals exploration and development company with projects across Western Australia and Victoria.
