Javelin Minerals (ASX:JAV) reports a staged test work program has produced ‘excellent’ gold-copper metallurgical recoveries at the Coogee Project in Western Australia.
The test work program was designed to investigate the metallurgical qualities of composite samples collected from a reverse circulation (RC) drill program completed at the project during October 2022 to February 2022.
Javelin reports the RC drill program completed to date, defined 2 gold-copper trends north of the Coogee pit. In addition, the overall Coogee mineralised trend now has a 1km strike length, establishing a ‘significant’ gold-copper mineralised system.
The company reports there is no relationship between copper and gold in the samples tested, therefore the opportunity to recover gold separately from copper and vice-versa. Yet, free gold does have a propensity to concurrently float with copper during flotation to produce a copper concentrate.

Commenting on the metallurgical test work, Javelin Minerals Executive Director, Matthew Blake, says: “We are very pleased to see that our first phase of metallurgical test work has returned excellent gold and copper recoveries from composite RC drill samples at Coogee with considerable gravity recoverable gold.
This complements the metallurgical recovery of 96.4% obtained by Ramelius Resources when they mined and processed the Coogee pit in 2013, with reported production of 147,400 tonnes at 4.7g/t Au for a recovered 20,400 ounces of gold.”
“We are very pleased to see that our first phase of metallurgical test work has returned excellent gold and copper recoveries…”
The company reports the next batch of RC and diamond samples will undergo bottle roll leach testing and investigation of gravity-recoverable gold and copper recovery test work, comprising flotation testing which would be conducted on diamond drill core samples.
Javelin’s Coogee Project is located 55km southeast of Kalgoorlie on the north-eastern shore of Lake Lefroy. The project comprises 7 tenements that cover an area of 17km-square.
Javelin Minerals is an Australian-based exploration company, focusing on project acquisitions, mineral exploration, and development. The company’s current portfolio assets include the Mt Ida, Bonaparte, and Coogee projects in Western Australia, and the Husky / Malamute Project in New South Wales.
