Javelin Minerals (ASX:JAV) is set to drill two major magnetic anomalies at its Coogee Gold Project in Western Australia, with diamond drilling scheduled to commence in Q3 2026.
The company has secured WA Government funding under the Exploration Incentive Scheme (EIS) to complete the two-hole program targeting the Coogee North and Coogee West geophysical anomalies. Both targets have never been drill tested.
At Coogee North, the company plans an 800m deep diamond hole to test a magnetic anomaly modelled approximately 700m below surface. The anomaly sits directly below the existing gold-copper resource, but the deeper magnetic source remains untested.
Recent reverse circulation (RC) drilling delivered significant intersections, including 5m @ 14.22 grams per tonne gold (Au) and 4m @ 1.91% copper (Cu) in hole CORC163, and 7m @ 6.42g/t Au and 7m @ 2.54% Cu in hole CORC171.
However, modelling indicates the drilling did not test the main geophysical source.
Coogee West features a similar magnetic response. Historic shallow aircore drilling identified a bedrock gold anomaly extending 900m by 500m, with grades up to 1.38g/t in bottom-of-hole sampling.
Transported sediments from Lake Lefroy mask the anomaly, making surface sampling ineffective. Modelling suggests a potential intrusive feature 450–600m below surface. The company plans to test the anomaly with a 1,000m diamond hole.
The Coogee Project sits on a granted mining lease and hosts a JORC resource of 3.6 million tonnes (Mt) @ 1.08g/t Au for 127,000 ounces and 1Mt at 0.41% Cu for 4,122 tonnes.
Javelin is also finalising heritage clearance for RC and aircore programs over the main Coogee corridor.
The RC program will target extensions of ‘high-grade’ shoots identified in December 2024 drilling. Meanwhile, the aircore program will focus on magnetic anomalies west of the existing trend.
Javelin Minerals recently secured options over two new tenements, extending the project area to more than 63km2.
