ASX-listed exploration company, Javelin Minerals (ASX:JAV) has begun a further 18 aircore (AC) drillholes at the Malamute Project, located near Tottenham in central New South Wales, Australia.
The company reports the new AC drilling program is a follow up to an earlier drilling program conducted by Javelin in 2019 at Malamute, which is considered prospective for rare earths elements (REE), copper, gold, and platinum group elements (PGE).
Additionally, Javelin notes that the new drilling is expected to provide more lithological and structural understanding to under-explored localities within Malamute, where potential untested targets exist.
Javelin intends to complete the 18 AC drillholes over selected magnetic highs within the Minemoorong Intrusive Complex (MIC).
In 2019, the company drilled 40 AC holes for a total of 2,088m. These historical AC drillholes intersected ‘significant’ lateritic material overlying ultramafic and mafic units of the MIC, which is a featureless prominent ovoid magnetic anomaly, almost entirely contained within Javelin’s exploration licence (EL8666).
