James Bay Minerals (ASX:JBY) has secured 66 claims, 2km west of the 655-acre Independence Gold Project, to aid an upcoming Scoping Study in the Battle Mountain district of Lander County, Nevada.
This additional land will offer James Bay exploration opportunities across a further 1,206 acres, allowing flexibility in mill site planning and providing undeveloped exploration prospects.
James Bay, which has a market capitalisation of $59.47 million, has now increased its landholdings in the district by 184% to 1,861 acres.
Executive Director Matthew Hayes says the company is focusing on progressing growth at the Independence Project.
“The newly staked claims sit in the heart of Nevada’s Battle Mountain district, one of the world’s most prolific gold regions with over 60 million ounces produced and 150Moz of in-ground resources,” he says.
“Positioned near the Buffalo Valley mine and underpinned by the same host rocks, the area also offers significant upside for future gold, silver, and copper discoveries in a tier one jurisdiction.”
The company has begun drilling at the project with a 4,000m reverse circulation drilling program underway and targeting extensions to the 419,599-ounce epithermal resource, following initial drill results from Rebel Peak in March 2025.
Results indicated 18.3m @ 1 gram per tonne gold from 36.6m, including 3.1m @ 2.7g/t gold with testing also occurring below surface rock chip samples of up to 31.7g/t gold.
As reported by Mining.com.au, James Bay has executed a definitive term sheet to purchase the Independence Gold Project, which is a joint venture between Battle Mountain Resources (BMR) and Americas Gold Exploration.
Independence hosts combined near-surface and skarn resources totalling 1.4 million gold-equivalent ounces.
James Bay Minerals is a lithium exploration company focusing on prospective lithium projects across the James Bay region in Québec.
