James Bay Minerals (ASX:JBY) has begun a 2,000m drilling program, as part of its strategic growth plan at the Independence Gold Project in Nevada, US.
The first phase of drilling, which will be a combination of diamond and reverse circulation, will focus on the central area of the project.
Drilling is designed to test the extensions of mineralisation at depth below the current mineral resource and to the east, an area that has never previously been drill tested.
James Bay, which has a market capitalisation of $45.48 million, is targeting several key extensions to enhance the prospectivity of the project and gather critical geological information that will lead into the development of a substantial expansional drilling program across all prospects throughout 2025.
Executive Director Andrew Dornan says the program aims to provide vital geological data and help confirm the prospectivity of the project.
“With both reverse circulation and diamond drilling underway, we are optimistic about the potential to expand on historical results and uncover new, high-grade mineralisation,” Dornan says.
In parallel to the drilling activities, James Bay will continue to evaluate the northern section of the project and assess multi-element prospectivity across Independence.
James Bay says this allows for additional targets to be generated.
The Independence Gold Project is an incorporated joint venture between privately held Battle Mountain Resources and Americas Gold Exploration. James Bay Minerals executed a definitive term sheet to acquire 100% Battle Mountain, and in turn, will acquire its interest in the project.
James Bay Minerals is a Canadian lithium explorer focused on its 346km2 landholding within the James Bay region of Québec.
