J2 Metals (TSX‑V:JTWO) plans trenching at its Sierra Plata Silver‑Gold‑Antimony Project in Mexico, following ‘high‑grade’ sampling results.
The company has completed systematic geological mapping and rock sampling across approximately half the project area since fieldwork began in late May. The work has identified seven veins and located 20 historical mine workings in the Taxco district of Guerrero state, Mexico.
Best results from 186 mapping rock samples include the following:
- 1,030 grams per tonne silver (Ag) from a dump sample at El Sabino
- 941g/t Ag over 0.7m with 1.9% lead (Pb) and 4.30% zinc (Zn) from a channel sample on the El Sabino vein trend
- 811g/t Ag over 1.40m
- 788g/t Ag with 1.05g/t gold from El Salto.
CEO Thomas Lamb says the first two months of systematic work have ‘exceeded expectations’.
“We are seeing high silver grades not only at the historical mines that first attracted us to the district, but also on newly recognised structures such as the El Salto and El Sabino veins,” Lamb says.
The company has identified seven veins to date: San Miguel, El Trebol, El Salto, El Sabino, El Sabino Sur, El Resumidero, and the El Sabino Sur splay. Sampling has highlighted El Salto and El Sabino as new priority areas.
Several samples carry significant base metal and antimony values, including 4.3% Zn and 1.90% Pb, and 2.10% Zn with 0.27% antimony (Sb). Gold (Au) values reached up to 3.34g/t Au at El Salto.
J2 Metals is designing a trenching program across the El Sabino, San Miguel, El Salto, and El Resumidero veins. The company has planned trenches every 25m to 30m along strike, as drill permit applications are advancing in parallel.
The 2,203‑hectare Sierra Plata project sits within Zacualpan, one of Mexico’s most historically productive epithermal mining districts. Recent sampling of waste dumps at the project returned grades up to 3,932g/t silver equivalent.
