Hawk Resources (ASX:HWK) has begun drilling at the Cactus project in Utah, US following the receipt of drill permits and site preparations in December 2025.
Drilling will target a 600m extension of the geophysical anomaly aligned with the residual Cactus deposit, with historically mined grades of 2.0% copper, 0.3 grams per tonne gold, and 7g/t silver.
The company will move on to the Wasp target following drilling at Cactus. Wasp is a significantly larger target and lies 200m along trend to the northeast of the Cactus target.
All permits for planned drill holes have now been received for the Cactus project area, including the Copperpolis, CZ-1, NYW, and N-1 targets.
Managing Director Scott Caithness notes that the Cactus drilling is on schedule.
“The exploration signatures of both targets are similar to those coinciding with the mine, hence they have excellent potential to add to the residual Cactus mineralisation which graded 2.0% copper and 0.33g/t gold,” Caithness says.
“Ground preparations for the newly permitted Copperopolis, CZ-1, New Years, and N-1 drill sites will be carried out in January. Portable XRF analyses will be carried out on the core to confirm zones of visual copper mineralisation ahead of lab assay results, which are expected to begin being received in mid-late March 2026.”
Hawk plans to complete diamond drilling on both Cactus and Wasp targets in January – February 2026. Finalisation of drill sites and access preparations for the additional targets will be done following approval from Utah’s Department of Oil, Gas, and Mining in January 2026.
Diamond drilling at the additional targets will begin in Q1 2026 as well.
Hawk Resources is focused on critical minerals and precious metals exploration in Utah, US and Brazil.
