Great Western Exploration (ASX:GTE) is preparing to drill test one of two “large, strong” down-hole electromagnetic conductors at its Oval Copper-Gold Project in Western Australia.
The target was identified just 50m below one of the prior drill holes at Oval and is interpreted to have high prospectivity for massive sulphides.
Great Western, which has a market capitalisation of $16.9 million, notes that previously reported pathfinder assays uncovered multiple prospective horizons showing similarities to Sandfire Resources’ (ASX:SFR) DeGrussa Copper-Gold Mine.
The Oval Copper-Gold Project is located within Great Western’s Yerrida North Project, located on the northern and western portions of the Yerrida Basin.
The project sits about 800km northeast of Perth and adjacent to the DeGrussa and Monty copper-gold volcanic-hosted massive sulphide deposits.
Drilling to test the off-hole conductor will begin this week by either extending or wedging from the drill hole.
Great Western anticipates drilling of Oval South, Sumo Niobium, and the Juggernaut Copper-Gold Targets will begin as soon as possible following completion of the second phase of drilling at Oval.
The company is a copper, gold and base metals explorer with several work programs underway across multiple targets in Western Australia.
Great Western says it is well-funded for its upcoming exploration programs with $4.7 million in cash at the end of December 2024.
