Great Western Exploration (ASX:GTE) is preparing to begin “company-making” drilling programs at a handful of targets within its Yerrida North Project in Western Australia.
The Sumo target, for example, has been previously defined by lag soil sampling, with a large, strong niobium anomaly measuring 2km by 1km. The company has also defined six individual targets at Juggernaut, which showed the broader region as having volcanic-hosted massive sulphide (VHMS) copper-gold potential.
VHMS-style mineralisation is often formed in clusters of deposits and the company believes these six targets represent these mineralisation characteristics.
Managing Director Shane Pike says the company is set for a “very exciting” new year.
“We are fully funded and well advanced in our preparations,” Pike says.
In conjunction with drilling at Sumo and Juggernaut, Great Western has begun a downhole electromagnetic (DHEM) survey at the Oval copper-gold target, which also sits within the Yerrida North Project.
The DHEM survey started earlier this month, but due to heavy rain the program has been suspended until mid-January 2025. The survey data is expected to be interpreted and modelled by consultants Newexco in parallel with drill assays in February 2025.
The Oval and Oval South targets are hosted within the vastly under-explored Yerrida Basin which is located adjacent to the DeGrussa and Monty Copper-Gold VHMS deposits.
Great Western interprets both targets represent Winu-style intrusive-related copper-gold targets, due to sharing coincident geological and geophysical features.
Great Western Exploration is a copper, gold, and base metals explorer with tenements that have been underexplored or virtually unexplored in Western Australia.
