Great Boulder Resources (ASX:GBR) has further defined gold mineralisation 500m north of the Mulga Bill North resource area within the Side Well Gold Project in Western Australia.
Fourteen aircore holes — totalling 2,137m — were drilled to follow up on previous results in an area between 500m and 800m north of the northern end of the Mulga Bill resource envelope.
The program is part of an ongoing process of uncovering and defining further gold mineralisation to expand Mulga Bill’s existing resource of 568,000 ounces of gold.
Great Boulder, which has a market capitalisation of $34.55 million, says some of the results from the latest drilling program includes 12m @ 2.61 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 88m, including 4m @ 4.27g/t gold; and 4m @ 5.03g/t gold from 84m.
Managing Director Andrew Paterson says there has been little effective drilling in the area and the latest results — in addition to previously reported results — highlights the scale and potential of the Mulga Bill North area.
“Another outcome from this program is the identification of a dacitic unit on the eastern margin of the drilling,” he says.
“This is significant because dacitic volcaniclastics host the high-grade mineralisation at Mulga Bill, suggesting we should extend our drilling further east.
“Meanwhile, we have assays pending on 45 aircore holes from Polelle, which is the first drilling we’ve completed there, and we’ll be drilling again soon at Saltbush and Mulga Bill North.”
Great Boulder is also continuing target generation and mapping work at Side Well South and over the southern part of Polelle, with updates expected for both areas in the coming weeks.
Aircore drilling is expected to resume at Saltbush in mid-July, with several fences of step-out holes testing the gold-arsenic-antimony anomaly that extends over a 2km strike extent from Saltbush to the north-northwest.
Follow-up reverse circulation and aircore drilling at Mulga Bill North is anticipated to begin following the completion of drilling at Saltbush.
Great Boulder Resources is a mineral explorer with a portfolio of prospective gold and base metal projects in Western Australia. The company’s flagship Side Well Gold Project lies in Meekatharra in the Murchison gold field.
