Great Boulder Resources (ASX:GBR) has commenced a 40,000m drilling program at its recently acquired Peak Hill Gold Project in Western Australia.
Two reverse circulation rigs are currently operating at the 481,000oz resource project, with a diamond drilling rig expected on site within approximately five weeks.
The program aims to test high-priority exploration targets across multiple deposits to infill and extend known mineralisation.
Managing Director Andrew Paterson says the company believes there is ‘huge’ scope to grow the Peak Hill resource.
“Extensive high-grade mineralisation has already been identified outside the resource and we have some compelling new targets to test,” Paterson adds.
Drilling focuses heavily on the Golden Treasure area adjacent to Jubilee, where previous owner Westgold Resources (ASX:WGX) intersected ‘high-grade’ mineralisation in 2025.
Standout results included 19m @ 13.34 grams per tonne gold (Au) from 104m, incorporating 7m @ 34.57g/t Au from 107m; 10m @ 18.79g/t Au from 19m, including 1m @ 114.25g/t Au from 23m; and 3m @ 25.04g/t Au from 65m.
The Peak Hill Project sits 100km north of Meekatharra in the Murchison region and comprises five key deposits: Jubilee, Durack, Enigma, Harmony, and Five Ways.
Great Boulder has already secured a mining and heritage agreement with the Jidi Jidi Aboriginal Corporation covering the project.
It also holds an ore purchase agreement with Westgold, which provides processing capacity at one of three regional mills and creates a capital-light pathway to production.
As reported by this news service, the Peak Hill Project hosts a JORC-compliant resource of 9.4 million tonnes @ 1.6g/t Au for 481,000oz.
Its acquisition marks the second ‘major’ gold asset in Great Boulder’s portfolio, joining the Side Well Project, which hosts an existing resource of 1.02 million ounces Au.
Paterson notes that the program intends to confirm ‘high-grade’ discoveries and extend known resources as the company prepares for mining studies next year.
GBR plans to update the Peak Hill mineral resource estimate by the end of 2026, followed by mining studies in Q1 2027.
Meanwhile, a separate 20,000m resource growth drilling program continues at Side Well.
The company says it expects first assay results from the Peak Hill program in August.
