Great Boulder Resources (ASX:GBR) has uncovered broad zones of gold mineralisation north of the current 518,000-ounce Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) at its Side Well Project in Western Australia.
The results, generated by the first 29 holes of a 35-hole reverse circulation (RC) program at the project, have returned gold (Au) grades of up to 53.90g/t Au, with gold also being intercepted from the northmost line of the RC drilling to date.
Great Boulder reports this drilling, in conjunction with previous RC and aircore (AC) drilling, has now defined a northeast-striking gold-copper-silver-bismuth (Au-Cu-Ag-Bi) trend over 700m that remains open. It is believed by Great Boulder that the grade distribution and interpreted geometry ‘strongly’ resembles the Mulga Bill target in its early phases of exploration.
Meanwhile, the company says it has also been granted the 5th and final tenement (E38/3622) at its Wellington Zinc-Lead Project by the WA Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS), and the company is scheduled to begin an Aboriginal Heritage survey on 29 May, with soil sampling to follow.
Key results from Side Well include hole 23IBRC012 with 5m @ 6.80g/t Au from 146m (Ironbark); hole 23MBRC031 with 4m @ 15.41g/t Au from 230m, including 1m @ 53.90g/t Au (Mulga Bill); and hole 23MBRC030 with 8m @ 2.38g/t Au from 172m, including 4m @ 4.65g/t Au from 172m (Mulga Bill).
Additionally, the company notes assays are currently pending from 6 RC holes completed within the new Cervelo target east of Mulga Bill, which was defined by recent AC drilling results.
Great Boulder also notes samples gathered from drillholes completed at Mulga Bill North have returned ‘strongly’ anomalous bismuth, with results including a maximum bismuth value of 113.50 parts per million (ppm) in the end-of-hole sample.
Speaking on the results, Great Boulder Managing Director Andrew Paterson says: “Our phase two RC program included holes at Ironbark, Mulga Bill North, Mulga Bill, Flagpole and the eastern target at Mulga Bill, which we have named Cervelo. The name is taken from a bicycle theme, after Mulga Bill’s bicycle.
We’ve always known the gold mineralisation at Mulga Bill remained open to the north, but to date, there has been very limited drilling in that area. These new results at Mulga Bill North highlight the potential more than 1km north of the current resource.

We are waiting on assays for the final six RC holes from this program. We now have a diamond drill rig on site drilling six holes at Ironbark and Mulga Bill for structural information. Drilling should take 3 to 4 weeks, after which we’re planning further AC and RC programs.”
Great Boulder’s latest drilling program comprised 35 RC holes for 6,134m, with drillholes being spread across the Ironbark, Flagpole, Mulga Bill, Mulga Bill North, and Cervelo targets.
With drilling complete, Great Boulder Resources announces it has moved forward with a diamond drilling (DD) program at both the Ironbark and Mulga Bill targets, which is expected to be completed in the next 3-4 weeks.
