These are times of a volatile market, where commodity prices have been fluctuating, especially in the precious metals sector.
Gold, in particular, has been of significant value for explorers and producers, and Oregon-focused Provenance Gold (CSE:PAU) is no exception to the rule.
While gold strikes a 45% increase year-over-year as of 16 April, according to Trading Economics, Provenance is all over its Eldorado Gold Project in eastern Oregon, US.
“It is still in the early stages of growth,” CEO Rob Clark says upon the project’s most recent drill results.
“The project continues to deliver in terms of both grade and extent of mineralisation.”
The Eldorado West prospect, within the greater Eldorado Project, defined a “robust and broad” target last month on the return of diamond drilling assay results.
Intersecting 20.12m @ 0.51 grams per tonne gold and 83.82m @ 2.18g/t silver at hole EC-04, including 1.68m @ 18.19g/t gold and 0.91m @ 39.61g/t gold, and 46.48m @ 0.7g/t gold at hole EC-05, including 7.7m @ 1.97g/t gold and 46.48m @ 0.36g/t gold and 10.52m @ 1.82g/t gold, the two new holes tested the northern and southern strike extent, as reported by Mining.com.au.
“We are pleased with both the strong, pervasive grades punctuated by high-grade intervals in hole EC-04 and the wide intervals of strong mineralisation in hole EC-05, which have the potential to substantially increase the mineralised footprint of the Eldorado property,” Clark says.
Eldorado West hosts a historical resource estimate of 1.98 million ounces @ 0.75g/t gold. Provenance says much of the property is still unexplored.
The company is still awaiting assays from the remainder of the core drilling program, including holes EC-06, EC-07, and EC-09, which extend to the southwest in the Herman area, and hole EC-08, which was drilled in an unexplored region of the Tyee area.
Jump with the market
Trading Economics reports the price of gold at US$4,820 per ounce as of 16 April. The number shows the precious metal rebounding by 1.27% for the past week, inside a monthly decline of 3.66% and a greater year-to-date increase of 11.66%.
Investor sentiment was still extremely positive last month at the Gold Coast Gold Conference, with Noah Rule’s Managing Director Sean Russo still urging an eager audience to buy gold.
Russo explains that while the market has been volatile in recent months, there is still the likelihood that the gold price will make a comeback and grow, though it doesn’t mean the commodity won’t lower again.
Provenance remains focused on its gold strategy across its project portfolio in the US. The company has recently undergone numerous board and management changes as its focus remains on the Eldorado Project.
In February 2026, former CEO Rauno Perttu retired from his role, focusing on his position within the company as Chairman, while Clark stepped into the CEO position, as reported by Mining.com.au.
The company has also appointed Etienne Gouin-Proulx as Director of the company, effective immediately. Gouin-Proulx is a chartered financial analyst and a professional engineer with experience in project evaluation, mergers and acquisitions, and public markets.
Prior to that, Provenance appointed Luke Schranz as Vice President of Exploration.
His role within the company is responsible for managing day-to-day operations, planning, and overseeing all aspects of technical campaigns.
