GenusPlus Group (ASX:GNP) has been selected to deliver Alinta Energy’s 100-200 megawatt per hour battery energy storage system (BESS) project at the Wagerup Power Station in Western Australia.
The company will conduct the remaining project works to complete the construction and commissioning associated with the Balance of Plant Works. The contract is valued at $50 million.
The battery will connect to existing high voltage infrastructure, which will help stabilise the SWIS as well as provide backup capacity when needed.
GenusPlus, which has a market capitalisation of $950.52 million, will engage with 100 personnel to complete the project using local content from Western Australia.
Managing Director Ravid Riches says Genus is ‘pleased’ to complete the delivery of a grid-critical BESS asset, increasing its fast-expanding footprint in the market.
