GenusPlus (ASX:GNP) has secured three contracts, valued at $60 million, for construction and design works at Fortescue’s (ASX:FMG) Christmas Creek mine site in Western Australia, as part of the company’s decarbonisation plan.
Under the contracts, GenusPlus will construct 220 kilovolt transmission lines, and design and construct 30km of overhead power distribution infrastructure of the Christmas Creek mine site.
GenusPlus, which has a market capitalisation of $1 billion, will also construct fast charger and pit power facilities at the Eliwana and Flying Fish areas.
Fortescue is committed to decarbonising its operations in mining, port, rail, non-process infrastructure and mobile fleet in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The company aims to achieve real zero terrestrial emissions by 2030.
GenusPlus Managing Director David Riches says the company is committed to strengthening its partnership with Fortescue, as it advances towards its decarbonisation goals.
Peak onsite manning will be 80 personnel, with site access to be gained in October 2025 and with the works estimated to conclude in Q4 2026, for the three contracts.
