Gateway Mining (ASX:GML) reports ‘strong’ initial results from maiden drilling at the previously untested mafic-intermediate contact at its Cowza prospect, located within the Yandal project in Western Australia.
The company’s first-pass aircore drilling at Cowza, covering an 800m portion of the structure, has returned ‘high-grade’ intercepts, including 4m at 4.7 grams per tonne gold from 96m and 4m at 3.0g/t gold from 76m.
A third hole delivered 46m at 0.4g/t gold from 68m to the bottom of the hole, which was terminated in silica-flooded sheared mafics.
CEO Richard Pugh says testing the mafic-intermediate contact at Cowza has immediately delivered ‘promising’ intercepts in the right structural position, with all three drill lines returning mineralisation.
Gateway notes that historic drilling had been positioned too far west in the footwall position, with the primary contact remaining undrilled until now.
The emerging structural setting at Cowza shows similarities to the Millrose gold deposit further south, with historic drilling at Cowza sitting in an analogous position to the Millrose West deposit.
Cowza lies 4.5km south of recently released results from Celia South and sits on the same structure, demonstrating the scale potential of the system.
The company reports it remains well capitalised to undertake its 2026 planned exploration, with $15.7 million cash and $5.6 million in liquid ASX securities at the end of the March 2026 quarter.
A reverse circulation (RC) rig will arrive at the site later this week to commence targeted drilling in fresh rock at newly identified prospect areas with a second RC rig to be added early next quarter.
The company expects initial Great Western results to be released this week.
