First Au (ASX:FAU) is evaluating its next exploration steps at the Kims prospect after initial surface sampling returned gold grades of up to 4.93 grams per tonne.
The results came from fieldwork across two of the 20 tenements First Au recently acquired in the Kalgoorlie region of Western Australia.
Samples of iron-sulphide-bearing quartz at Kims returned 4.93g/t gold (Au) and 3.48g/t Au. Mapping also identified previously unreported quartz outcrops and approximately 30 historic workings.
First Au says the prospect has seen limited previous exploration, comprising four aircore holes. The latest fieldwork followed up a historical aircore result near a contact between basalt and ultramafic rocks within the Kalgoorlie Terrane.
Executive Chairman Daniel Raihani says the results provide an early indication of the potential across the recently acquired ground.
“With further fieldwork underway and additional assays pending, we are excited by what we are seeing and look forward to building on these early results as we continue to advance our WA gold strategy,” Raihani says.
Additional surface samples from the second tenement returned up to 0.85g/t Au, alongside results of 0.39g/t Au and 0.30g/t Au.
The samples were selectively collected by hand from surface material and are indicative only. They do not establish the grade, width, or continuity of gold mineralisation at Kims.
The prospect lies approximately 2.6km north of the 3.7 million-tonne-per-annum Paddington Gold Mill, owned by Zijin Mining Group (HKEX:2899).
First Au has commissioned Golden Strike Geological Services to continue systematic mapping and surface sampling across the broader Kalgoorlie portfolio.
The company says it will combine the field observations with historical exploration data and pending assays to determine the next phase of work at Kims and prioritise potential drill targets.
