Fenix delivers maiden Beebyn Hub ore reserve

Fenix Resources (ASX:FEX) has reported a maiden ore reserve of 26.9 million tonnes (Mt) at 60.0% iron (Fe) for its Beebyn Hub in Western Australia’s Mid-West region.

The reserve comprises an updated Beebyn-W11 mine ore reserve of 13.1Mt @ 61.2% Fe and a maiden Beebyn-W10 mine stage one ore reserve of 13.8Mt @ 58.9% Fe.

The Beebyn Hub combines the operating Beebyn-W11 iron ore mine with the fully approved Beebyn-W10 iron ore mine as a centralised production centre within Fenix’s 290Mt Resource Weld Range Iron Ore Project.

Executive Chairman John Welborn says the Beebyn Hub ore reserve represents a “globally significant” portfolio of direct shipping iron ore in WA’s Mid-West.

The company secured the exclusive right to mine Beebyn-W10 pursuant to a right to mine agreement signed with Sinosteel Midwest, a subsidiary of China Baowu Steel Group.

Mining approvals for Beebyn-W10 Stage 1 were received in July, with production expected to commence in the current quarter and first shipments targeted for the December 2026 quarter.

The reserve supports delivery of Fenix’s three-year plan aiming for sustainable production of up to 6 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) from the hub by FY28.

“Fenix continues to upgrade [its] confidence in the long-term production outlook of the available high-grade iron ore resources of the project consistent with our current three-year production plan and our ambition to grow production to 10 Mtpa by 2031,” Welborn says.

“The maiden ore reserve for Beebyn Hub provides more than five years of mine life at our current production rate.”

He adds that the completion of the Weld Range Definitive Feasibility Study is expected to further materially boost ore reserves consistent with the Scoping Study published in December 2025, which outlined a 10 Mtpa production profile through 2042.

The updated Beebyn-W11 reserve includes 9.9Mt proved reserves at 61.24% Fe and 3.1Mt probable reserves at 61.02% Fe. Meanwhile, the maiden Beebyn-W10 stage one reserve comprises 13.5Mt proved reserves at 58.91% Fe and 0.4Mt probable reserves at 57.29% Fe.

The Beebyn-W10 mineral resource estimate totals 47.7Mt @ 59.04% Fe, comprising 34.9Mt measured, 10.3Mt indicated, and 2.5Mt inferred resources.

Fenix Resources is a mineral explorer and iron ore producer operating in WA’s Mid-West region.
