Felix Gold (ASX:FXG) has appointed Blair Way as a non-executive director for the company following Mark Strizek’s decision to retire.
Way previously acted as the CEO, President, and Executive Director of PMET Resources (TSX:PMET) between 2020 and 2024, leading the discovery and expansion of Shaakichiuwaanaan. He is actively serving as a director, as well as an independent director of Loyal Metals (ASX:LLM).
He holds more than 35 years of experience in exploration, project development, construction, and operations in North America, Australasia, and Asia.
Way says Felix offers a “compelling combination” for development of critical minerals and gold growth across mining districts in the US.
“As the largest landholder in the Fairbanks Gold District, with a dominant contiguous position adjacent to Kinross Gold’s Fort Knox operation, Felix is well positioned to continue growing its gold resource base in an area where additional ore supply is actively sought,” Way says.
“At the same time, Felix’s high-grade antimony mineralisation, simple mineralogy and existing infrastructure in Alaska provide a realistic and credible pathway to near-term development.
“The ability to advance a compact, low-footprint operation and integrate quickly into a US-based supply chain is increasingly important given current national security and defence priorities.
“It was this combination of scale, development readiness, and strategic relevance that attracted me to Felix.”
Felix Chairman Ronnie Beevor says Way has played an “instrumental” role at Patriot, whose leadership guided the discovery and expansion of Shaakichiuwaanaan lithium system in Québec.
“Blair brings a rare combination of discovery insight, development experience, and capital markets leadership,” Beevor says.
“His appointment significantly strengthens the board as Felix advances its high grade antimony opportunities toward near-term development while continuing to unlock the substantial gold potential across our dominant landholding in the Fairbanks Gold District.”
Former non-executive director Mark Strizek says he is proud to leave Felix upon its transformation from explorer to near-term producer “with the funding and a strengthened board in place to execute this strategy” as he focuses on his role at Aurum Resources (ASX:AUE).
