Fathom Nickel (CSE:FNI) has commenced phase two drilling at the Gochager Lake Project in Canada.
The company is fully funded to conduct drilling across a total of 3,000m for between six and ten holes.
This brings the total exploration campaign to 5,000m of drilling across phases one and two. Cost efficiencies from the use of the winter trail in phase one allowed the company to conduct an additional 1,000m from the originally proposed 4,000m.
CEO Ian Fraser says phase two drilling is designed to follow up on phase one, which comprised seven holes and 2,143m in late March.
“Phase one drilling identified a new metasediment-hosted zone of nickel-copper-cobalt mineralisation approximately 500m east of the historic Gochager Lake deposit,” Fraser says.
“Mineralisation intersected in drill hole GL26025 is the first recorded nickel-copper-cobalt zone hosted in metasedimentary rocks at the project, indicating that metasedimentary rocks surrounding the gabbroic host of the Gochager Lake deposit can also host significant nickel-copper-cobalt mineralisation.
“Phase two drilling will further test the mineralisation intersected in GL26025 and follow up on multiple strong borehole electromagnetic off-hole anomalies identified in both metasedimentary and gabbroic rocks from the phase one program.”
Gochager Lake is a 33,629-hectare property located 75km north-northeast of La Ronge and 22km west-northwest of Missinipe, Canada.
