Duketon Mining (ASX:DKM) has planned follow-up drilling after maiden results from the Barlee Gold Project returned ‘significant’ gold intersections.
The company reports assay results from all aircore drillholes and five of 28 reverse circulation (RC) drill holes completed at the project, located north of Southern Cross in Western Australia.
Significant gold intercepts at the Astro Prospect include 24m at 0.79 grams per tonne gold from 24m, including 12m at 1.29g/t gold, and 8m at 0.77g/t gold from 52m, including 2m at 1.97g/t gold in hole 26BAR005.
Drilling 400m south of the central hole intersected 7m at 0.74g/t gold from 76m, including 1m at 4.68g/t gold at the bottom of hole 26BAC025.
At the Gromit Prospect, aircore drilling returned 4m at 0.53g/t gold from 16m and 8m at 0.27g/t gold from 28m in hole 26BAC068. RC drill holes on either side of this aircore hole intersected significant quartz veining, with assays pending.
The company has received 1,000 assays from a total of 1,900 samples, approximately more than 50% of the drilling program. The remaining assays are expected within 10 days.
“These first–ever drilling results from the Barlee Gold Project have exceeded our expectations and provide strong validation of the extensive gold anomalies identified through our geochemical programs,” Managing Director Stuart Fogarty says.
“The broad zones of gold mineralisation intersected at the Astro Prospect […] are particularly encouraging given the project has never previously been drilled and remains open in all directions.”
The mineralisation correlates well with ultra fine fraction (UFF) soil geochemistry, which identified Gromit and Astro as high-priority anomalies with gold values greater than 200 parts per billion gold.
“Importantly, the mineralisation has now been identified on multiple drill lines, with significant gold intersected approximately 400 metres south of the main Astro discovery, demonstrating the emerging scale of the system,” Forgaty adds.
Duketon Mining will provide an update after receiving the remaining assays and implement a follow-up drill program to systematically test the growing mineralised footprint at both Astro and Gromit prospects.
