Drill results trigger Horden Lake expansion for Pivotal

Pivotal Metals (ASX:PVT) will continue to expand its Horden Lake deposit in multiple directions after returning mineralised intersections from every drillhole in its 2024 program.

As a result, Pivotal is planning to broaden the deposit’s search area and contact zone in order to substantially increase the resource for the copper-nickel-gold-platinum group metal-cobalt project.

The company says the latest drilling results have further confirmed Horden Lake — which is located in Québec, Canada — as a robust open-pittable deposit with expanding resource growth potential

Every drillhole from the 2024 drilling program has returned mineralised intersections along the 2,100m gabbro-metasediment mineralised contact zone.

The latest results via step-out drilling recorded 8.2m @ 3.2% copper-equivalent, including 3.2m @ 7.44% copper-equivalent; and 26.8m @ 0.83% copper-equivalent and 12.1m @ 0.88% copper-equivalent.

Managing Director Ivan Fairhall says Horden Lake is continuing to grow for the $8.44 million market capitalised company.

“The high precious and platinum group metal values underscore the importance of the multi-element assays, for which there are none in this area, and reinforces the quality and perspectivity of the entire project,” Fairhall says.

“We have demonstrated the deposit remains strongly open at depth, along strike, and the consistent continuity observed augurs well for adding tonnage with this, and future programs.

“We have a resource update scheduled for Q4, but we are already planning our next program to continue to grow this asset.”

At the northern zone of Horden Lake the results show good potential for expansion of open pit mineralisation into this area.

Meanwhile, at the southern zone, several holes intersected a wide mineralised zone at the contact between gabbro and metasediment.

The company notes that four new high conductance downhole electromagnetic (DHEM) plates complement the cluster of previously reported plates. As a result, it continues to show continuity of mineralisation down-plunge and across the full southwest strike extent of Horden Lake’s area.

Results are pending for seven drillholes and associated DHEM.

The aim of the drilling program was to infill missing by-product multi-element assay information, target resource expansion potential, and collect a representative metallurgical sample for a complete ore characterisation and flotation testwork program.

DHEM surveys have also been completed to dimension future exploration potential and targeting.

Horden Lake is a copper dominant project that lies 131km north-northwest of Matagami, Québec, Canada. The project has an indicated and inferred resource estimate of 28 million tonnes @ 1.5% copper-equivalent.

Pivotal Metals is an explorer and developer focused on its critical mineral projects in Canada. The company aims to build on historic exploration work to make discoveries of scale which can be practically bought into production given their proximity to the Abitibi mining district.
