Cullen to test newly identified Wongan corridor

Cullen Resources (ASX:CUL) is planning to drill test a newly defined lithium target corridor at its Wongan Hills Project in Western Australia over the next few months.

The Australia-based mineral explorer says the drill testing is set to include traverses of aircore (AC) drilling across a 2km anomalous lithium-in-soil trend, with the focus on the interpreted sharp lithological contact suggested by a gravity image from the area and the sub-cropping pegmatite.

Across the gravity image, lithium values of more than 30 parts per million (ppm) form a coherent zone that closely matches a low gravity anomaly in the southeast area, which is interpreted to be a felsic intrusion at depth.

Meanwhile, south of the gravity image, lithium contours of more than 30ppm and 40ppm form a coherent northeast-southwest trend interpreted as overly felsic intrusions in greenstone.

Cullen reports the anomalous lithium trend and the sub-crop pegmatite at the gravity boundary are ‘key’ drill targets.

This news comes after Cullen completed ultrafine (UF) soil sampling at the Wongan prospect, aimed to extend surveying for 1km south where a lithium anomaly in UF soils was open in that direction.

Soil sampling results suggest a continuation of the ‘higher’ UF lithium assays forming a northeast-southwest corridor with a subzone core of more than 40 to 73ppm lithium.

Cullen reports this corridor closely overlies felsic intrusions in mafics, as interpreted from gravity and aeromagnetic data, as well as parallels sub-cropping pegmatite.

Following today’s announcement (13 November), Cullen Resources’ share price is up more than 22% at $0.011 as of 2:30 pm AEDT.

The company’s Wongan Hills Project is considered to be prospective for gold, base metals and lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) pegmatite targets.

Cullen Resources is a gold and base metals-focused explorer with several prospective terranes in Western Australia.

As of 30 September 2023, the company had $317,000 cash and cash equivalents at hand, according to its quarterly report. Post quarter-end, the company announced a share purchase plan to raise up to $680,000.
