Capella Minerals (TSX-V:CMIL) has commenced its first diamond drill program at the Killero W Gold-Copper Project in northern Finland.
The reconnaissance program targets two initial areas, PKW-1 and PKW-2, defined by base of till gold-copper anomalies from historical Anglo American (LSE:AAL) geochemical surveys, strongly magnetic host rocks, and cross-cutting northeast-trending fault zones.
The Killero W project forms part of Capella’s five-project portfolio in the Central Lapland greenstone belt, located 40km southwest of Agnico Eagle Mines’ (NYSE:AEM) producing Kittila gold mine.
The current drilling follows Capella’s recently completed 2,008m nine-hole diamond drill program at the nearby Killero E project.
Both projects operate under a joint venture with Turkish company Tumad Madencilik Sanayi Ve Ticaret, announced in September 2025.
“I am very pleased to be announcing today the commencement of a maiden diamond drill program at the Killero W project,” CEO Eric Roth says.
“The initial focus will be on two gold-copper targets which are defined by coincident base of till anomalies, favourable host rocks and highly prospective cross-cutting structural corridors.”
Capella currently holds an 80% interest in the five northern Finland projects, with Cullen Resources (ASX:CUL) holding the remaining 20%.
The company earned its majority stake by meeting exploration commitments outlined in an earn-in agreement announced in August 2021.
Additional news flow is expected from Capella’s Jolhikko and Seisunselka projects, where four reconnaissance base-of-till and top-of-bedrock survey lines were completed.
A total of 102 base-of-till and 55 top-of-bedrock samples have been sent to ALS Laboratories for analysis.
Capella also announced a binding letter of intent with Verde Metals in January for an earn-in agreement on the Solana Iron-Oxide Copper-Gold project in southern Spain, with field activities expected to begin in early Q3 following approval from the Andalucian Mining Authority.
